Three Vols sign with NCAA D1 Schools in Early Signing Period

Carterville – Three Logan Baseball sophomores have inked their National Letter of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers starting in the fall of 2018. Sophomore Tanner Gordon, has signed with Indiana University, Cameron Touchette inked with Kent State University in Ohio, and Trey Riley is heading to Missouri State University next fall.

Gordon, a 6'5" right-handed pitcher from Champaign, put together a quality freshman year, going 6-0 with 3.44 era, while striking out 52 in 49.2 innings pitched. Tanner was also selected as the 30th best Junior College MLB Draft prospect by Perfect Game.

Touchette had a big freshman year for the Vols, hitting .433 with eight doubles, two home runs, and 27 RBI, whole also swiping 27 bags on the base paths. Cameron is expected to lead the Logan outfield once again this spring and should be a staple at the top of the lineup.

Riley transferred to Logan over the summer after seeing limited action at Oklahoma State. Riley brings a power fastball and quality secondary stuff to help bolster the top of the Vols pitching staff. Trey was also selected as the 49th best Junior College MLB Draft prospect by Perfect Game.

"I am proud of these three guys." Head Coach Kyle Surprenant said. "All three of these guys put in a lot of work this fall and had a lot of success.  We are counting on these guys to be a big part of our success this spring.  We are looking forward to having several other players sign during the spring.  When it is all said and done I think we will have yet another year where we have over 10 players sign to NCAA DI schools."

Logan baseball opens up spring practice on January 10th, in preparation for their 2018 opener against Volunteer State, in Millington, TN, on February 10th.
