Creal's Walkoff Gives Vols Victory Over Rend Lake

CARTERVILLE - A 2-out walk-off single propelled the Logan Vols to a dramatic victory over Rend Lake, 2-1, on Thursday. The win puts the Vols at 29-13 on the year and 16-4 in GRAC play. The Vols and the Warriors will finish the season series with a double header at Rend Lake on Saturday, with the first pitch at 12 p.m. Fans can following the game action via live gamecast on GameChanger.

Pitching ruled the day early, with either team able to come up with anything offensively until the fourth when Rend Lake would break through first with a run in the 4th. The Vols would answer back in the 6th, starting the frame with four straight singles, including an RBI single from Blake Johnson to tie the game; but would leave the bases loaded. Trey Riley would get the start for the Vols, going eight innings giving up one run on three hits, while striking out nine. Rend Lake looked to break through in the 9th loading the bases with 2-outs, but Andrew Zenner would induce a weak pop to the infield to get out of the jam. In the bottom half, Cameron Touchette would get things going with one out by reaching on an error; following a fly out, AJ Lewis would double down the 3rd base line, giving Logan runners on 2nd and 3rd with two outs. After a Sam Frontino pinch hit walk to load the bases, Ashton Creal would put his 2-2 pitch into left field for the game winning single. Creal and Lewis would pace the Vols eight hit performance with two hits apiece
