CARTERVILLE - The Logan baseball team finished off a hot April in style, with a 10-9 victory over Mineral Area College on Monday. In their final non conference match up of the season the Vols would knock out 10 hits en route to the victory. The win puts JALC at 32-13 on the year and will look to stay hot when the Vols travel to Southwestern Illinois on Tuesday for a doubleheader. Logan would get the bats going right away scoring in each of the first four innings, highlighted by Jack Wilson's 10th homerun of the season, giving the Vols an early 7-1 lead. MAC would battle back picking up three in the 5th and two in the 7th to cut the Vols lead to 7-6. Logan would answer back in the seventh though, with an RBI single from Sam Frontino and a pinch-hit 2-RBI single from Reid Pope, both coming with two outs, to give the Vols a 10-6 lead. The Cardinals wouldn't go away quietly, blasting a three run shot to left to cut the Logan lead to 10-9, but Jordan Yenne would strike out the next batter to end the game and pick up his first save of the year. Austin Christ got the start for the Vols, going five innings giving up four runs (two earned) on 6 hits, while striking out seven, and picking up his first win of the season. At the plate, Logan got a big game from Sam Frontino. The Freshamn would go 3-4 with 3 RBI and a run scored. Jack Wilson would add 3 RBI of his own. Ashton Creal added two hits and three runs scored of his own.
