Vols Drop DH to Dyersburg State

Carterville, IL - A promising day quickly changed and saw the the Logan Volunteers drop a doubleheader to Dyersburg on Tuesday. The Vols had a 4-0 lead in game one but would fall 8-6 in 9 innings and drop game two 10-3. The losses drop JALC to 30-7 on the year. Logan will look to rebound quickly with a pivotal GRAC series starting on Thursday against Olney Central. First pitch has been moved up an hour to 2 p.m. due to possible weather.

The Vols would open the day on the right foot with a three run 1st inning and add another run in the 4th, to take a 4-0 lead into the 5th. That were the day turned for the Vols. The Eagles would tally four runs in the frame all of off errors. Sam Frontino would give the Vols the lead back in the bottom half with a two-run blast to left center, but Dyersburg would capitalize on more Logan errors to tie the game up at six. The Vols had a chance to walk-off in the 7th and the 8th but would strand runners in scoring position. Dyersburg would use that momentum to score twice in the 9th to take a 8-6 lead. The Vols would not go quickly, loading the bases with 1-out, but wouldn't be able to push any runs across. Hunter Sullivan, Zach Parks, and Sam Frontino would all have multiple hit games for the Vols. Justin Bauersachs (3-1) would pick up the loss on the mound giving up two runs on four hits in his inning of work.

Game two saw a quick momentum change doom the Vols once again. Luke Brown would lead off the bottom of the first with a solo shot to right, but after that Dyersburg would score 10 unanswered runs. Luke Brown would bring home the other two runs for the Vols in the 6th with a 2-RBI double. Zach Parks would added another two hit performance on the day and Trent Shelby would pick up the other Logan hit. Cameron Robinson (1-2) would get the loss on the mound going two innings, giving up four runs on four hits and two walks.
