John A. Logan College Signs Six-Foot-Eight Inside Player

CARTERVILLE – After signing some of the top guards in the nation, Coach Kyle Smithpeters has added a big man to his recruiting class at John A. Logan.

Quamain Nelson, 6-foot 8-inch small forward from Great Falls, South Carolina, has signed a letter of intent to play for the Vols. In his last prep season, Nelson averaged 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists per game at Charlotte Basketball Academy in North Carolina. He also played one season for St. Anthony High School in New Jersey where he played for legendary coach Bob Hurley, Sr. He played for one of the top AAU teams in Dreamunited.

"Nelson is a very versatile player," Smithpeters said. "He has the size to play inside but can also go out on the floor and score from the outside. He plays hard and is a good defender."

Nelson said he chose Logan because of the coaching staff. "Coach Kyle was very cool is the recruiting process. He is a coach I can trust."
