Vols Win Season Opener Over Bethel JV

CARTERVILLE – Hot shooting propelled the John A. Logan Volunteers to a season opening 110-64 victory over Bethel JV.

The Vols led only 44-38 at the half but shot 65% from the field in the second half to pull away while shooting 56% from three and 89% from the line.

Logan put seven players in double figures with 16 points from David Sloan and Jaiveon Eaves, 15 for Derek Hawthorne, 14 from Jonah Jackson, 12 from Romelo Burrell and 10 for Ronnie Carson and Justin Shadowens of Marion.

"I thought we had good effort all night and we showed how we can shoot in the second half," said Logan coach Kyle Smithpeters. "We have plenty of room for improvement, but tonight was a good start."

Logan, 1-0, will host the Kentucky Wesleyan JV on Saturday at 1 p.m.  As a part of Logan's 50thanniversary, admission for the game and the women's game at 3 p.m. will be free.
