Logan Falls on The Road to Vincennes

VINCENNES, Ind. — Vincennes University rallied in the second half to defeat John A. Logan, 88-69.  The win for the fifth ranked Trailblazers puts them at 25-1 with 16 straight home wins.

Logan played with the Blazers as the Vols went into halftime with a 46-43 edge. The lead went back and forth in the second half until the Blazers went on a 10-2 run to go up 71-61.  The lead grew down the stretch with strong rebounding and free throw shooting from Vincennes University.

The Volunteers, 20-5, was led by Derek Hawthorne Jr. with 20 points while David Sloan had 14 and Damion Taylor pitched in 11. Vincennes was led by sophomore guard Isaiah Tisdale with 27 points including 7 of 9 free throws.

Despite the loss the Volunteers moved into a first-place tie in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference as Shawnee defeated Southwestern Illinois. The Vols will play a key conference game at home on Saturday when they host Olney at 3 p.m.
