CARTERVILLE, IL — John A. Logan scored 120 points to defeat Lake Land College 120-103 to maintain a tie for first place in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference.

The Vols, 22-5 overall and 12-3 in the conference and a tie with Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) for the league lead. Logan and SWIC will meet on Saturday in a 3 p.m. game at Logan.

Against Lake Land on Wednesday night, the Volunteers scored at will with seven players in double figures. Logan led 66-54 at the half and reached the century mark with 6:01 remaining in the game. Ronnie Carson and Derek Hawthorne Jr. led Logan with 19 points each.

Carson and David Sloan led Vol rebounders with 8 and 7. Sloan, the national leader in assists with 9.3 per game had a game-high 16 assists.

Logan is back in action Saturday, February 24th at 3pm at home against SWIC as both teams battle for first place in the GRAC.
