Logan Men Claim at Least a Share of Conference Title

MT. CARMEL, IL — An exciting 83-80 road win at Wabash Valley College on Tuesday night earns the John A. Logan Volunteers at least a share of the Great Rivers Athletic Conference Championship.

Logan, 24-5 overall and 14-3 in the league, looks to get a home win over Kaskaskia Friday, 7 p.m. to claim the title outright.

Wabash Valley jumped out to an early lead and led by as many as 14 points before Logan rallied to lead 51-42 at the half. The Vols led by as many as 15 points in the second half before the Warriors final rally ended short.

Logan dominated the boards 46-28 with Vonnie Patterson pulling down 13 while adding 14 points for a double-double. Point guard David Sloan also had a doubled-double with 10 points and 11 assists.  Jaiveon Eaves led all scorers with 19 while the Warriors were led by Marcel Cherry with 18 points.

Logan is back in action Friday, March 2nd at 7pm at home against Kaskaskia to be crowned the conference regular season champions!
