Logan Men Win Great Rivers Athletic Conference Title with 77-64 Win Over Kaskaskia

CARTERVILLE, IL — The John A. Logan men's basketball team survived a sluggish start to beat Kaskaskia College 77-64. The win gives the Vols the outright title in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference with a league record of 15-3 and an overall record of 25-5.

The score was tied 28-28 late in the first half when Logan went on a 9-2 run to lead 37-30 at the half.

Derek Hawthorne Jr., led the way with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Jaiveon Eaves had 18 points while Vonnie Patterson had 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Kaskaskia, 17-13 and 9-9, was led by Logan Kohrman with 15 points.

Logan also wrapped up the second seed in the Region 24 Tournament and will face the winner of Monday's, March 5th matchup between Lake Land and Lincoln Trail on Wednesday at Rend Lake College with a 6pm CST tip.
