Eaves Honored as All-American

CARTERVILLE, IL-- Jaiveon Eaves of John A. Logan has been named an 2017-2018 second team All-American by the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee.

"I am very pleased that Jaiveon was selected as an All-American," said Logan coach Kyle Smithpeters.  "It is always good to see a good kid do well and to be recognized. He did a great job for us as a leader both on and off the court."

Previously named Player of the Year in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference and NJCAA Region 24, Eaves led the Vols in scoring with 16.1 points per game.  He also led the team in 3-point field goal percentage shooting 44% from beyond the arc.

The 6-3 sophomore from Madisonville, KY, played his freshman season at Evansville and led this year's Logan team to a record of 26-6, GRAC conference title and a final ranking of 22nd nationally.

Eaves is being recruited by some of the top teams in the nation including Big 10 and Big East teams as well as regional teams like Loyola Chicago, Illinois State, Murray State, St. Louis and Indiana State.

"I'm taking the recruiting slow," Eaves said.  "I was surprised to be selected as an All-American.  I credit my coaches and teammates with helping me to be selected. We worked hard and I'm fortunate to be the one gaining the honors."

Eaves selection makes the fourth straight year Logan has had an All-American.
