Lady Vols Take One From Wabash Valley

The Lady Vols traveled to Mt Carmel yesterday to face league leading Wabash Valley (22-0) in the GRAC. Freshman Sydney Levan got the start and gave up 3 runs early in the game but then settled in not allowing another run. The Vols bats exploded in the 6th inning with a lead off HR by freshman Mikayla Smothers who was (2-4) in the game with an RBI and run scored. Next followed Sophomore Sarah Aldridge (2-4) with a hit, followed by a walk and an RBI hit by freshman Rebecca Moffett who was (2-3) with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored in the game. Next a HBP by Taja Dedecker and a fielder's choice by Lynnsay Wilson set the stage for Sophomore Taylor Rogers who cranked a Grand Slam putting the Vols on top for good getting the upset! Lexi Childers was 3-3 with atriple in game one as well helping with the runs scored.

Game two had Bailey Anderson on the mound giving up 6 runs on 15 hits. The Lady Vols bats were quiet and only could muster 2 runs. Lexi Childers was 1-4 with 2 RBI's. Rogers was 2-3. Coach Siefert stated, "Hannah Shirley pitched a great game for Wabash and definitely kept us off balance at the plate. Overall today was a good day for us and I am very proud of how our team has developed over the season."

Vols return back in action today at SIC.
