Lady Vols Gain Four More Wins

Lady Vols Gain Four More Wins

Lady Vols have won their last five out of six games to end their weekend play on a high note.  Friday afternoon the Vols took on SIC in Harrisburg, IL winning the first game 12-10 with Alyssa Wright on the mound to start the game. Wright pitched 6 full innings allowing 5 earned runs.  Bailey Anderson came in to close the game in the 7th allowing no hits and no runs scored to gain the save.  The Vols bats were struggling on the day but ended up pushing through with the help of Rebecca Moffett 4-4 with 3 RBIs, Lynnsay Wilson 4-5 with 2 RBIs, and Mikayala Chamness 4-5 with 1 RBI.  Dedecker, Rogers, and Childers were all 2-5 in the first game.

The second game had Sarah Aldridge on the mound pitching 6 innings allowing 2 earned runs on 11 hits.  Bailey Anderson came in during the 7th inning to get the win.  The Vols struggled on both sides the second game but competed a full 10 innings to gain the win over SIC 11-7.

Saturday the Vols took on Kaskaskia College in Centralia, IL.  Sydney Levan pithed a solid 7 innings allowing 5 hits and only 1 run to pick up the win 5-1.  The Vols bats started to see improvements by hitting everything hard in the first couple innings.  Lexi Chilers, Taja Dedecker, Rebecca Moffett, Lynnsay Wilson, Taylor Rogers, Makayla Smothers, and Sydney Levan were all 2-4 in game one.

The second game took a lot of fight from the Lady Vols to keep up with the KC offense.  KC jumped out on top putting 3 runs up in both the 1st and 2nd inning.  Putting up 1 run in the second inning for the Vols gave them a little momentum to keep having quality at bats.  In the 4th inning Lynnsay Wilson led off with a double to keep the offense going and Taylor Rogers drilled one over the center field fence to put the score 6-3.  The Vols put another run on the board in the 5th and then in the 7th, when they needed it the most, they scored 4 to take the lead 8-7.  Taylor Rogers coming in clutch again drilled a 3 run HR over the left center field fence to allow the Vols the chance to win the game.  Bailey Anderson took the win and held the KC offense to no runs in the 7th

The Vols return back in action Monday vs. Shawnee Community College at 2pm and 4pm.
