Former Carbondale High School standout and Lady Vols outfielder Taja Dedecker committed to Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina last Thursday July 12th.

Taja was an outstanding student athlete for the Lady Vols during her two seasons here.  She held a batting average of .342 her freshman year and an average of .362 her sophomore year.  Taja not only held one of the highest batting averages her two years as a Lady Vol but also held a .930 fielding percentage during her career. She also receieved All Region and All Region Tournament Team nominations her sophomore year.  Coach Siefert stated, "Taja has been one of the hardest working student athletes I have ever been around.  Not only does she bring great athleticism to the field but such a fun upbeat leadership role."

Taja will start school at WSSU during the Fall where she will be studying Sports Management to become a future softball coach.  Coach Siefert stated, " WSSU is exetremely lucky to recieve such a great commitment to thier program.  Taja has a great future ahead of her and I can't wait to see her succeed at such a great university like WSSU."

John A. Logan College Athletics would like to thank Taja for all of her hard work and dedication the last two years as a Lady Vol. The staff and administrators wish her nothing but the best as she furthers her career the next couple of years.
