Lady Vols Sweep Lincoln Trail College

Game 1 Recap:

The Lady Vols coasted to an easy victory over Lincoln Trail College Softball 11-1 on Thursday. Volunteers fired up the offense in the first inning, when Lexi Middendorf tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Continuing to put runs on the board the Lady Vols scored five runs in the fourth inning. Middendorf, Mikayla Chamness, Danyelle Eilers, and Ally Vaughn powered the big inning with RBIs.

Macie Lester pitched the Volunteers to victory. She went five innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out two and walking one.  Volunteers totaled nine hits in the game. Eilers and Chamness all managed multiple hits in game one. Eilers went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Vols in hits.

Game 2 Recap:

Chloe Grover was clutch at the plate with runners on base on in game two, driving in five on three hits to lead the Volunteers past Lincoln Trail College 10-6. Grover drove in runs on a home run in the second and a home run in the sixth.  There was plenty of action on the basepaths for the Volunteers collecting 14 hits.  Volunteers got things moving in the first inning, when Lexi Middendorf singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. The Lady Vols scored five runs in the second inning. Middendorf and Grover powered the big inning with RBIs.

Sydney Levan led things off in the circle for the Volunteers. She allowed three hits and one run over three innings, striking out one and walking one. Lexi Ezekiel relieved Levan in the 4th inning allowing 2 earned runs. Alyssa Wright came in in the 6th inning to lead the Lady Vols to their second win of the day.  Wright allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits.

Volunteers tallied two home run on the day. Grover had a long ball in the second and sixth innings.  The Lady Vols saw the ball well, racking up 14 hits in the game. Grover, Proctor, Jaelin King, Middendorf, and Josie Gleason each managed multiple hits for the Volunteers.

The Lady Vols are back in action Saturday at Kaskaskia College at 12pm and 2pm.
