CARTERVILLE — A 17-2 run early in the second quarter propelled the John A. Logan women's basketball team to an 86-60 win over Southwestern Illinois College on Saturday afternoon. It was the 8th straight win for the Lady Vols who are 20-7 overall and 12-4 in the conference.

Logan led only 25-24 when the went on the run that put them up 42-26. The Lady Vols were led by Shaniya Whitsell and Destiny Cozart who each had 13 while Farasia Hodge had 12 and a game high 9 rebounds. Sophia Thompson led the Blue Storm with 24 points.

The win assures the Lady Vols will host a first round game in the District Tournament. Logan closes the regular season with games next week at Wabash Valley on Tuesday and at home Friday, 5 p.m., against Kaskaskia.
