Volleyball Wins Home Opener Over SWIC

In an early season match up of the first and second place GRAC Conference teams from 2017, John A Logan Volleyball started the season with a convincing win. In fact, the team swept the match in 3 straight games with a 25-18, 25-10, 25-15 score line.

Overall, it was an amazing night for freshman Bryleigh Buchanan from Harrisburg, IL. She led the team with 9 kills and was 2nd in blocks with 5. Kim Hall made all-around contributions with 8 kills, 10 digs, and 3 blocks. Freshman Kameryn Sillmon led the team with 6 blocks and contributed 5 kills. Alanis Below led the team defensively with 12 digs. Sophomore Shelbey Saye contributed 15 assists.

"I felt like we had a strong team effort tonight. Bryleigh definitely led us offensively, but everyone made contributions. I love the fact that this group is playing as a unit. Everyone is involved and everyone is engaged in playing a role in our success," said Coach Burnside.

Starting the season with an immediate conference match is unusual, and it definitely put pressure on an untested team. But the team seemed to respond well, and the future is looking bright!
