John A. Logan Sweeps Conference Match at Rend Lake

In the first conference match on the road this season, the volleyball team managed a convincing victory over an improved Rend Lake squad Wednesday night. Game scores were 25-15, 25-16, 25-5.

Freshman outside hitter Olivia Hallet led a balanced Logan offense with 12 kills, and contributed 11 digs on the defensive side. Freshmen Kim Hall and Bryleigh Buchanan each finished with 9 kills. Sophomore Shelbey Saye led the team in assists with 20 and also led in service points.

According to Coach Burnside, "I was very impressed with the composure of our team. Rend Lake made a good run in the second game and, at one point tied the game up at 14 all. We were playing a little tentative and nervous, but we really turned things around from that point and made a great run to win 25-15."

"Right now we have a good combination of sophomore leadership from our setters and aggressive play from our freshmen hitters. We have a talented group of freshmen, and they are picking up the college game quickly. Considering most of these girls had never met one another before 3 weeks ago, we are playing at high level together as a unit. It's very nice to see."
