Vols Win Important Conference Showdown on the Road at Lake Land

After a difficult weekend at Vincennes University, the volleyball team bounced back in a big way with a four set win over conference rival Lake Land College at Mattoon Wednesday night. The team hung tough and competed well in the face of a large and loud Lake Land crowd to notch a 25-20, 25-20, 25-27, 25-11 victory.

The Logan offense was very balanced with four players finishing with 9 or 10 kills each. Sophomore setters Taytum Murdock and Shelbey Saye led the offense with 21 and 27 assists respectively. They also contributed a combined 24 digs and 4 aces for the match. Freshman Rightside Hitter Bryleigh Buchanan led the team with 10 kills, followed by Outside Hitters Olivia Hallet and Kim Hall with 9 each. Freshman Middle Kameryn Sillmon also added 9 kills and 5 Blocks. Murphysboro native Mallorie Harris had a good night as well with 6 kills and 5 blocks in the middle. The defense was led by Freshman Libero Alanis Below who had 15 digs.

Coach Burnside seemed very happy with the effort and focus, "I think it was a very nice win for us. One that had contributions from everyone. There was no one on the court last night that did not have a positive impact. It's very good to see that type of focus on the road against a conference rival in a big match. I am very happy for the girls and I hope they are enjoying the win."
