In a meeting of the top two teams in GRAC volleyball, Logan came out on top Monday night with a 25-16, 25-22, 25-16 victory.

Lake Land came into the match with an 8-1 conference record with their only loss being to the Lady Vols at Mattoon early in the season. The Vols were 9-0 coming in with their perfect record on the line.

"Our team had a very solid night. Lake Land came in with a lot of momentum winning 8 of their last 10 matches. To beat them in 3 straight games was very impressive. Our sophomores showed great leadership and were mentally sharp for the match. We came into the match with a positive attitude and carried the momentum all the way through," said Coach Burnside.

Sophomore Outside Hitter Olivia Hallet led the team with 9 kills. Bryleigh Buchanan, Harrisburg sophomore, had a great night at the net leading the team with 5 blocks and contributing 8 kills as well. Kameryn Sillmon had an extremely efficient hitting night with 7 kills on only 11 attempts.

Defensively the team was led by Alanis Below from Advance, MO. She had 23 digs in the match. Sophomore Kim Hall also had a great defensive night with 17 digs.

"Offensively we had a decent night overall. Not amazing. In fact, we hit a lower percentage than usual as a team. To me, that makes the 3 set victory even more impressive. It was our defense and serving that really carried us. Solid blocking and scrappy defense goes a long way in our sport, and we definitely had it going last night," said Coach.

With this victory, the Vols put themselves in a great position in the GRAC. While there is still some work to do with 4 matches remaining, having a two match lead at this point is a great position to be in.
