Carbondale, IL – AJ Lewis' hit a 2-out walk off double to lift Logan over South Suburban on Sunday night. The ball which clanked about halfway up the left center field wall would clear the bases and give the Vols a 9-8 victory; pushing their record to 5-2 on the year. The two teams will meet again tomorrow for a doubleheader on the Logan campus, starting at 12:30 p.m.

JALC would open the scoring in the first with an RBI single from Hunter Combs, but the bulldogs would answer with two runs in the second and third to give them a 4-1 lead after three. The Vols would answer back in the 4^th, tying the game with three runs in the frame highlighted by an RBI double by Cameron Touchette. The score would remained tied until the seventh when SSC would pick up two runs, Logan would get one of their own in the bottom half to make the score 6-5. SSC would pick up two more in the eighth, while Logan scratched one, putting the score at 8-6 heading into the ninth. Reliever Cole Hensel would keep the Bulldogs off the scoreboard in the ninth, setting up the wild victory for Logan. After a fielder's choice from Combs, the Vols were down do their last out with only a runner on first. Jack Wilson would follow with a double just inside the first base bag, putting runners on 2^nd and 3^rd. After a Touchette walk to load the bases, up stepped Lewis, who took the first pitch he saw off the left field fence, clearing the bases and giving the Vols the win.

Hensel (1-0) would pick up the win in relief, going 2 innings, giving up two runs, on three hits, while striking out two. Collin Clayton, going 3-5 with an RBI, led Logan at the plate. Combs, Wilson, Touchette, and Lewis would all add two hits apiece. Lewis would end the night tallying four RBI.

"We've shown that we are resilient club, we do a good job of staying with it for all nine innings." Head Coach Kyle Surprenant said. "AJ did a great job getting the big hit and that's exciting, but what goes unnoticed is the three at bats prior to him by Combs, Wilson, and Touchette to keep the line moving."
