Vols Drop Doubleheader with #2 Wabash

Mt. Carmel, IL - The Logan baseball team would drop both ends of a doubleheader to #2 Wabash Valley College, 6-1 and 3-2 (8 innings), on Monday night. The losses drop the Vols to 11-6 on the year and to 1-2 in GRAC play. Logan will be back in action on Tuesday, when they travel to take on #12 Jefferson College. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.

In Game 1, Wabash Valley would open the scoring in the second taking a 1-0 lead, before adding three more runs in the 3rd. Logan would add their lone run of the game in the fourth with a 2-out RBI single from Ashton Creal. WVC would answer right back in the bottom half with a solo home run to right and add one more in the eight to put the score at 6-1.

Tanner Gordon (3-1) took the loss for for Logan. He allowed four hits and five runs over four innings, while striking out four. Collin Clayton led the offense going 2-5. 

Game 2 got off to a hot start for Logan, after a lead off hit-by-pitch, Jeremy Gaines would put the Vols up 1-0 with an RBI triple to center. JALC would add to their lead in the 3rd when Gaines would score on a wild pitch, giving the Vols a 2-0 cushion. 

 Starter Brenden Heiss would hold Wabash down, going five innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, and striking out seven, while picking up the no-decision. 

Wabash Valley would strike back in the sixth, capitalizing off of two walks and two hit-by-pitches to tie the game at 2-2. After a scoreless 7th, WVC would score again off Logan miscues, walking-off the Vols without recording a hit.  

Andrew Zenner (1-1) took the loss for Logan. The freshman surrendered one run on zero hits over one and two-thirds innings, while striking out two.
