Vols Drop Finale 6-3  against LTC: Still Win Season Series

Robinson, IL - The Logan baseball team was looking for the series sweep of Lincoln Trail on Friday, but a late rally came up short, as the Vols fall 6-3. The loss puts Logan at 13-10 on the year and 3-3 in GRAC play. JALC will look to rebound on Tuesday when the travel to Dyersburg State for a doubleheader. 

Lincoln Trail would strike the first blow, with a solo shot to left in the 2nd. The Vols would answer right back, thanks to three straight two-out hits from Ashton Creal, Jeremy Gaines, and Collin Clayton, giving Logan the 2-1 lead. The Statesman would fire right back capitalizing on a lead-off walk and a double to tie the game and then taking the 3-2 lead on a sacrifice fly. After LTC would extend their lead to 4-2 in the fifth, a Jack Wilson RBI fielders choice cut the deficit back to one, 4-3 in the 8th. Lincoln Trail extended their lead in the bottom half, adding two more, pushing the score to 6-3. Logan would battle until the end, loading the bases with two outs in the ninth, but the game would end on a fly out in foul territory to the pitcher, leaving the tying run on first.

Tanner Gordon (3-2) would take the loss on the mound for the Vols, getting the start and going four innings, giving up three runs on five hits, while striking out five. Offensively, Collin Clayton would led the way once again with a 3-4 performance at the plate. Cameron Touchette would add two hits of his own. JALC would collect 9 hits on the day.
