Vols Win Slugfest with SIC

Harrisburg, IL - 19 runs on 13 hits, including a four-RBI, three-hit day from Ashton Creal would propel Vols to a 19-13 victory over Southeastern Illinois on Wednesday. The win puts Logan at 34-14 on the year and 20-5 in GRAC play. The Vols will finish the regular season with a home double header against SIC on Saturday; first pitch is set for noon.

Sam Frontino got things going for the Vols in the second when he doubled off the fence in right center fence, scoring Cameron Touchette. Two batters later Ashton Creal would single home Frontino giving JALC the 2-0 lead after 1.5. SIC would answer back to tie the game in the fourth, but the Vols would explode for 17 runs in the final four innings to seal the victory. Blake Johnson sparked the offense with a lead off bomb to left in the fifth. From there Jeremy Gaines would connect on a two-RBI triple followed by an RBI double by Ashton Creal to finish off the five run 5th. The Vols would put up two in the 6th, three in the 7th, four in the 8th, and three in the 9th to round out the scoring. Ashton Creal would led the charge offensively going 3-5 with two doubles and four RBI for the game. Sam Frontino, AJ Lewis, and Blake Johnson would all add multiple hit games for the Vols. On the mound, Logan got another quality start from Trey Riley. The Missouri State commit, went six innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out 10; to give him his sixth win of the year.
