Logan Baseball Finishes 4-1 on the Weekend

Carterville, IL – The Logan Baseball team looked strong all weekend, collecting four out of five wins On Friday, Logan would beat Kankakee Community College, last year's NJCAA DII National Champion, 11-1. The Vols would follow up that win, by taking the series against Triton on Saturday and Sunday (7-2, 0-9, 9-3, and 6-3).  Logan now sits at 10-4 on the year heading into the GRAC opener against Wabash Valley College on Thursday at Logan. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Against Kankakee, the Vols bats would rattle off 10 hits leading to 11 runs in a run-rule shortened game. AJ Lewis and Cameron Touchette would each have three RBI, while Jack Wilson added a 3-4 day at the plate himself. Trey Riley (1-1) would pick up the win, going five innings, giving up one hit, and striking out eight.

In Game 1 against Triton, the Vols got a dominate performance from Tanner Gordon on the mound. Gordon (3-0) would go six innings, giving up two unearned runs, on three hits, while striking out 11. At the plate, Logan would have seven different players collect a hit, while Collin Clayton would lead the way with a 3-4 day, en route to the 7-2 victory.

Logan would only muster five hits in the shutout 9-0 loss in game 2. Sam Frontino would go 1-1 with two walks at the plate. Joe Darlin (0-1) would get his first start of the season, going 3.2 IP, giving up three runs on four hits, while striking out six.

The Vols would bounce back on Sunday, behind quality pitching performances from starters Brenden Heiss and Hunter Sullivan, sweeping Sunday's double-header.

In Game 1, Heiss (2-0) would get the win in the 9-3 victory, going five innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on one hit, while striking out 11. At the plate Keegan Breese and Cam Touchette led the way with 2-3 days and Jeremy Gaines would drive home two RBI, while going 1-3.

In the series finale, Hunter Sullivan would hold down the Trojans all day, helping the Vols to the 6-3 win. Sullivan (1-1) would pick up his first win of the year, going six innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on three hits, while striking out eight. Jeremy Gaines would go 2-3 with two runs scored to drive the offense. Collin Clayton and Ashton Creal would each have two RBI. Adison Wildharber would close the door on the series, picking up his second save of the year.
