Carterville, IL - A late comeback that saw the tying and winning run on base fell short and saw the Volunteers drop their first game of the season, losing 14-13 in the series finale to Triton. Logan's record drops to 10-1 on the year and the Vols will look to rebound on Friday, when Kankaee Community College visits Logan. First pitch is schedule for 2:30 p.m.

Logan got the scoring started early with a Trent Shelby sac fly in the first. The Vols didn't waste much time in the second, scoring four times, highlighted by a Hunter Combs RBI triple and, on the next pitch Hunter Sullivan would connect for a two run blast over the right field fence. Triton would get to Vols Starter Hale Sims in the 3rd, hitting a three run home run to caught the Vols lead to 5-3. Sims would get out of the inning with no more damage, but would be done for the day. His final line was three innings pitched, giving up three runs on four hits, while striking out five. Triton would take the lead in the 4th when they would get to reliever  Brayden Simich for six runs to take a 9-5 lead. Triton would push the score to 11-5 before Sam Zarling would start the comeback with a two run shot to left center and Hunter Combs would add a sac fly to cut the deficit to 11-8 in the 5th. Both teams would go scoreless in the 6th, but Triton would add two more runs on back-to-back extra base hits to make the score 14-8 in the 7th, Logan would get two runs back in the bottom half making it 14-10. The score would remain the same until the 9th, until the Vols would make one last push. The inning did not start great with two quick outs, but a single by Cody Jansen and 0-2 hit-by-pitch on Trent Shelby, brought Zach Parks to the plate, where he hit a laser over the right field fence to bring the Vols within one. The next two batter would walk, giving the Vols a chance to tie or win the game, but the comeback would end there and the Vols would fall 14-13.

Offensively the Vols would collect 16 hits, including seven extra base hits. Hunter Combs, Zach Parks, and Sam Zarling all had three hits, while Luke Brown and Sam Frontino would add two hits each. Bradyen Simich (0-1) would take the loss for Logan on the mound.
