Owensboro, KY - The Logan Volunteers opened up Spring Break week with a doubleheader sweep of Kentucky Wesleyan on Monday. The Vols are now 15-2 on the year after taking a high scoring affair 18-12 in game one and cruised to a 10-2 victory in game two. Logan will be back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, when Jefferson College comes to Carterville for a single game starting at 2 p.m.

Game one saw the Vols set the pace, exploding for a 10-0 lead after three innings, thanks impart to a seven run 2nd inning. Starter Justin Bauersachs would hold the Panthers down, not allowing a hit until the 4th, going 4 innings allowing one run on two hits, while striking out five. The Vols hitters would stay hot during the game scoring in each of the first 6 innings with 10 Vols collecting a hit, Sam Frontino would lead the barrage going 4-4 with a home run and four runs scored. Luke Brown, Hunter Combs, Cameron Langston, Trent Shelby, and Zak Hartleb would join Frontino with multiple RBIs. KWU would try and mount a comeback in the 7th scoring eight runs, but Andrew Zenner would come in and finish the game collecting the final out to get out of a inherited bases loaded jam and end the game. Brett Harris, Zach Avery, and Alex Scherer would all get their Logan debuts on the mound in relief.

Game two saw the Vols jump out to an early 4-0 lead. Scoring all four runs in the 2nd; capitalizing on a couple Panthers miscues. The Vols pitchers would take it from there; starting with Gabe Schimpf. Schimpf (2-0), the red shirt freshman from Carterville, would pick up his second win of the season, going three innings, only allowing two hits and striking out two. Joe Darlin and Hale Sims would finish the game out of the bullpen going two innings each. At the plate the Vols would push the game out of reach by scoring two in the 5th and four in the 7th. Eight different Vols would  cross the plate for the game. Luke Brown and Zak Hartleb would knock in two RBIs apiece. Hartleb would finish the doubleheader with six RBI. Six Vols would collect a hit, with Lathan Brooks being the only Vol with two hits.

Logan will start GRAC play on Thursday when Lincioln Trail travels to Carterville; first pitch is schedule for 3 p.m.
