Carterville's Johnson Joins John A. Logan Basketball Team

Justin Johnson, 6-3 guard, has joined the John A. Logan basketball team.  Johnson averaged 15 points and 5 rebounds as a Carterville senior.

"We are happy to have Johnson in our program," said Logan coach Kyle Smithpeters.  "He worked out with several of our players over the summer and proved that he can play at this level."

During the summer workouts Johnson impressed the Logan coaching staff with his shooting and overall play against seasoned Logan players.  "I am very excited to join the Volunteers," Johnson said.  "This summer I proved to myself that I can play at this level."

Originally signed by Greenville College, Johnson was impressed by the family atmosphere of the Volunteers and decided to make the switch.  "The players at Logan work extremely hard and they are anxious to help you improve your skills.  They are a very talented group and I look forward to playing with them."

An excellent 3-point shooter, Johnson says he wants to improve his ability to break down a defender off the dribble and his overall defensive skills.  "I want to improve and Logan is known for developing players," Johnson said.  "Being close to home, Logan is the perfect  place for me."
