Vols Golf off to Red Hot Start

MARION — The John A. Logan College men's golf team is off to a red hot start winning two of its first three tournaments, including the most recent by 22 strokes.

Both tournament wins were led by the Vols' Brian Whitson, a sophomore from Advance, Mo.

The latest match included Rend Lake College, Vincennes University, Lewis & Clark Community College, and Lincoln Trail Community College.

"We are moving in the right direction," said JALC head golf coach Tom Ferris. "You always like to win, but there is always room for improvement."

The Vols travel to Tennessee in October to face a major tournament at the UT-Martin. That tournament takes place Oct. 2-3.

"The most important thing our team can do is to continue to improve," Ferris said. "The way the season had started, if we can keep improving, good things are going to happen."
