Tom Ferris became the head coach for John A. Logan’s men’s golf team in the spring of 2000, and he has turned the program into a perennial national contender. He has been named Region 24 Coach of the Year a stunning 12 times. More important, he has led the Vols to national championships twice – one in 2009 and the other in 2011. His teams have also placed second three times and third twice at Nationals. In 2011, Ferris was named National Junior College Athletic Association “Coach of the Year” and two of his players, Marcelo Rozo (2010) and Filip Timmerman (2011) won individual national titles.

Before taking over the men’s program, he coached the JALC’s women’s golf team when it was created in 1998. The Lady Vols won the Region 24 Tournament title in 1998 and qualified for nationals both years that he was at the helm.

In addition to his coaching duties, Ferris has been providing play-by-play and color commentary for Logan basketball games since they began airing on the radio. He coordinates the Volunteer Network and was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame as a broadcaster.

Ferris is a 1962 graduate of Wichita State University where he played football and baseball. The father of three, he and his wife, Kay, reside in Marion.
