Lady Vols Take Two From Shawnee Saints

Game 1 Recap:
The Lady Vols stole the lead late and defeated Shawnee Community College Saints 6-5 on Tuesday. The game was tied at three with Shawnee Community College Saints batting in the bottom of the fifth when Kayci Tanner singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. Sydney Levan lead the volunteers to victory by driving in five runs. She went 2-for-3 at the plate. Levan drove in runs on a single in the second and a home run in the sixth.

The Lady Vols got things started in the second inning when Levan singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs. The Lady Vols knotted the game up at six in the top of the sixth inning scoring three runs when Levan homered. Levan was credited with the victory. She surrendered six runs on nine hits over seven innings, striking out four. Volunteers tallied seven hits on the day. Moffett and Levan each collected two hits to lead the team offensively. The Vols stole five bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Jaelin King led the way with two.

Game 2 Recap:
The Lady Vols had everything working the second game, winning big over Shawnee Community College Saints 15-1. In the first inning, the Lady Vols got their offense started when Mikayla Chamness doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run. The Lady Vols tallied five runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught came from home runs by Chloe Grover , Sydney Monje, and Danyelle Eilers.

Calli Sutcliffe took the win. She allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out five and walking zero. Volunteers tallied five home runs on the day. Eilers had a homer in the fifth inning. Monje went yard in the fifth inning. Grover put one out in the fifth inning. Moffett had a long ball in the first inning. Proctor went for the long ball in the third inning.

Volunteers racked up 18 hits. Middendorf, Chamness, Moffett, and Proctor all managed multiple hits for John A Logan Jr College Volunteers. Moffett, Chamness, and Middendorf each collected three hits to lead JALC. Volunteers didn't commit a single error in the field.

Lady Vols return back to action Thursday at SWIC. Game times are at 2pm and 4pm.
