Lady Vols Take Two From SWIC

Game 1 Recap:
The Lady Vols claimed a 8-3 victory on Thursday, despite a big push by SWIC in the third inning. The Lady Vols got things started in the first inning. Mikayla Chamness drove in one when she singled. Alyssa Wright was the winning pitcher for JALC. She surrendered three runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out three.

Lady Vols launched two home runs on the day. Makayla Smothers put one out in the third inning. Lexi Middendorf went for the long ball in the third inning. Volunteers saw the ball well today, racking up 13 hits in the game. Taylor, Lexi Childers, Middendorf, and Smothers all managed multiple hits for JALC. Taylor went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lady Vols in hits.

Game 2 Recap:
Despite allowing three runs in the fifth inning, the Lady Vols defeated SWIC 9-4. Volunteers got on the board in the first inning when Makayla Smothers doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. Volunteers tallied three runs in the third inning. Proctor and Rebecca Moffett all drove in runs in the frame. Calli Sutcliffe was the winning pitcher for the Lady Vols. She lasted seven innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out two.

Volunteers racked up 13 hits. Smothers, Lexi Childers, Proctor, and Moffett all managed multiple hits for JALC. Smothers led the Lady Vols with three hits in four at bats.

Lady Vols are back in action Saturday at home against Wabash Valley at noon and two.
