Game 1 Recap:

John A Logan College Volunteers blew out Rend Lake Warriors 9-1 on Saturday. Volunteers knotted the game up at one in the top of the second inning, when Mikayla Chamness hit a solo homer. The Lady Vols pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Chamness singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Montana Taylor homered on a 1-0 count, scoring three runs. Volunteers put up four runs in the sixth inning. Makayla Smothers, Taylor, and Lexi Middendorf each drove in runs during the inning.

Sydney Levan started game one. She allowed four hits and one run over six innings, striking out four and walking one. The Lady Vols smacked two homeruns in game one. Chamness went for the long ball in the second inning. Taylor had a long ball in the third inning. Volunteers collected 11 hits on the day. Chamness, Middendorf, and Smothers each managed multiple hits for JALC. Chamness went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Volunteers.

Game 2 Recap:

The Lady Vols stole the lead late and defeated Rend Lake Warriors 10-9 on Saturday. The game was tied at nine with the Volunteers batting in the top of the ninth when Makayla Smothers singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.  A six-run lead in the fifth inning was just enough for the Volunteers to hold off Rend Lake Warriors for the victory. In the first inning, Volunteers got their offense started with one run when Smothers singled. Volunteers scored four runs in the fifth inning. Lexi Childers and Smothers all drove in runs in the frame.

Calli Sutcliffe was in the pitcher's circle. She went six and two-thirds innings, allowing nine runs on 13 hits, striking out one and walking zero. Alyssa Wright came in for the save in the seventh inning allowing 1 hit while facing 6 batters. Volunteers tallied one home run in the second game. Smothers had a homer in the fifth inning. The Lady Vols totaled 14 hits. Smothers, Hanna Schulmeister, and Josie Gleason each collected multiple hits. Smothers led the Volunteers with five hits in six at bats.

Updated Schedule Changes: 

Sunday April 7th game has been moved to Friday April 12th at Frontier Community College at 4pm and 6pm. 

Strike out Cancer game will now be Monday April 22nd at 2pm and 4pm against Kaskaskia Community College. 

Sophomore Day will be Tuesday April 30th against Shawnee Community College at 2pm and 4pm.
