Strike Out Colon Cancer Doubleheader Sweep

The Lady Vols held their Stirke Out Colon Cancer Doubleheader against Kaskaskia Community College yesterday to help raise money for Lori Vaughn (mother of sophomore catcher Ally Vaughn).  The Lady Vols were able to help raise money to help support the the Vaughn family during this hard time. Game 1 Recap:

John A. Logan College Volunteers knocked in seven runs in the fourth on its way to an 11-2 victory over Kaskaskia College Blue Angels on Monday. The offensive onslaught by the Volunteers was led by Lexi Childers, Montana Taylor, Sydney Monje, Mikayla Chamness, and Rebecca Moffett, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

In the first inning, the Volunteers got their offense started by Montana Taylor who doubled and gained an RBI. Volunteers pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Monje singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run and Chamness doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs. Volunteers put up seven runs in the fourth inning. Childers, Taylor, Monje, Chamness, and Moffett each had RBIs in the frame.

Calli Sutcliffe was the winning pitcher for the Volunteers . She allowed three hits and two runs over five innings, striking out two. Volunteers socked one home run on the day. Chamness went deep in the fourth inning. The Volunteers tallied ten hits in the game. Chamness, Taylor, and Moffett all collected multiple hits for the Volunteers . Moffett, Taylor, and Chamness each collected two hits to lead the Lady Vols.

Game 2:

Even though John A. Logan College Volunteers gave up three runs in the second inning, they still defeated Kaskaskia College Blue Angels 11-3 in game two. Volunteers secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught by the Volunteers was led by Brittany Proctor, Montana Taylor, Mikayla Chamness, and Josie Gleason , all driving in runs in the frame.

Sydney Levan led things off in the circle for the Volunteers . She went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out seven and walking one. Volunteers racked up 12 hits. Gleason , Levan , and Rebecca Moffett each racked up multiple hits for the Volunteers. Gleason went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Volunteers in hits.
