John A Logan Women’s Basketball drops a close one to Olney College 70-69.

CARTERVILLE, IL- The John A Logan Lady Volunteers winning streak came to an end this evening after a tough battle against a conference team, Olney College. With this loss, the Lady Vols overall record is 11-8.

The Lady Vols had a great first half outscoring the Lady Knights 29-19 but in the second half, they struggled to keep the lead when key players got into foul trouble. The Lady Vols battled through the early second-half foul trouble and kept the lead at the end of the third quarter with a score of 54-49. The Lady Knights responded in the fourth quarter by hitting tough shots and outscoring the Vols 21-15. The Lady Vols competed the entire game but fell short at the end 70-69.

Sophomore, Alicia Hornbuckle, ended the game with a total of 12 points, 10 rebounds, and dished 2 assists. A local sophomore out of Marion Illinois, Nia Marshall, scored 9 points and had 9 rebounds. Sophomore, Lyric Campbell, had 19 points, and 5 steals.

The Lady Vols move to 11-8 on the season. The Lady Vols will be on the road against Vincennes University on 1/26 @ 5:00 pm EST, 4:00 pm CST in Vincennes, IN.
