Logan Wins Conference Match Over Rend Lake

At John A Logan Gym Wednesday night the volleyball team put in a solid night's work against Rend Lake, winning the match 25-15, 25-11, 25-18.

The team was led by 16 kills from Kim Hall, freshman from Breese Central High School. She was very consistent throughout the night and hit an amazing .600 for the evening. Also very involved in the offense were two local freshmen middle hitters, Naudia Johnson (Carbondale) and Mallorie Harris (Murphysboro). They combined for 9 kills and 3 blocks with an overall hitting efficiency of .727. Sophomore setter Taytum Murdock chipped in with 16 assists and led the team with 4 aces. Shelbey Saye led the team with 23 assists. Freshmen Olivia Hallet and Alanis Below led the team in digs with 9 and 16 respectively.

Coach Whitehead made her head coaching debut filling in for Coach Burnside who was home sick. Although this was a first for Coach Burnside in the 20 years of coaching here, it ended up not being a big deal for Coach Whitehead or the team as they rolled to a 3 set win. Coach Whitehead said, "I was very happy with how the team performed overall. There was a let down in the beginning of game 3, but other than that, it went smoothly."
